Blossoming before you bloom…
Thursday, May 31st, 2007When I was a young girl, I grew up with my grandparents. During the summer, I’d be camped at my grandma’s (Nanay) room with the window facing the garden. I can never forget the smell of sampaguita (jasmine) in the mornings, which I am assigned to pick up and put in small bowls to be placed in different areas in the house.
I remember Nanay would always tell me to only pick up the ones that have fallen and never pick out from the tree itself. This has stuck to me no matter how much more I love the sampaguita that’s just about to blossom more than the one that has already fully bloomed.
This all is in relation to how everyone was commenting on how "blooming" I was yesterday even if I was dressed in my shabby mint green shirt and oversized pants. And I can’t believe I’m talking about my menstruation on this blog but it’s all what this is about. Yesterday was prelude to Day 1 of my cycle. Today, I dressed nice, with a skirt and my favorite black slimming shirt. And no one has made any sort of comment on how nice I look! I even made extra effort with my make-up and hair!
(Mutya, I guess this is part of the getting to know myself in Boracay phase. Now, I know that I’m prettier before my period.)
